Part-Time Vehicle Driver

A Vehicle Driver operates gas or diesel powered buses on routes designated by the Unit Manager including picking up and dropping off customers at designated bus stops or stations following all state, local and federal rules and regulations for drivers. A vehicle Driver will assist in the pick up of campus refuse, maintains the cleanliness of vehicles, equipment and the garage itself along with various other duties related to the operation of ACES Transportation, as directed by the Unit Manager.

Essential Functions

  • A Vehicle Driver will follow proper procedures for performing daily preventative maintenance (pre-check) inspection of vehicles and equipment to insure safe and trouble-free operation including the cleaning of any vehicle assigned or as needed.
  •  A Vehicle Driver follows property procedure for fueling vehicles and for recording information with regard to mileage and passenger reports.
  • A Vehicle Driver follows proper procedure for refuse removal including recyclable items as determined by the Unit Manager.

Other Job Duties

  • Maintain legible records required by the employer. IE., vehicle pre-check list - gas, oil, water, A/F and parts; pickup and transfer station records and logs. 
  • A Vehicle Driver will dress and appear in a presentable fashion following all guidelines for uniforms as outlined in the ACES Part-time Employee Handbook. 
  • A vehicle Driver is responsible to cover any area as needed at the discretion of the Unit Manager.

Job Requirements

  • Must be able to read, write and speak English. Must possess a clean, valid NYS CDL with a P endorsement. 
  • Must complete an pass an ACES Vehicle Driver's Job Knowledge Test, a physical and written exams per D.O.T and Federal Regulations and must conform to it (hours, tests, any required logs, and appropriate licensing -- Class 1, 2, or 3). 
  • Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds (or more but, only with assistance from another employee or a mechanical aid.)
